There is a probable cause overlooked - F. C. Dohan, MD, my father and his son Jr. posited that autism was caused by gluten acting on the brain of genetidally susceptiblte individuals. The same cause is posited for the etiology of Schizophrenia. If true, identifying mothers with high circulating levels of so-called exophins would detect those whose children were at risk for autism. Dietary intervention(Celiac Disease gluten-free diet) would then prevent autism in children. This important work is being investigated by prominent scientists. Glyphosate toxicity. It kills digestive tract microbes that process harmful components of foods, leaving those to be absorbed by the intestines into the bloodstream.

Glyphosate was formulated in 1970 and first sold in 1974. The symptoms of glyphosate toxicity and autism align very closely. See MIT studies that the press won't cover.
