There is a probable cause overlooked - F. C. Dohan, MD, my father and his son Jr. posited that autism was caused by gluten acting on the brain of genetidally susceptiblte individuals. The same cause is posited for the etiology of Schizophrenia. If true, identifying mothers with high circulating levels of so-called exophins would detect those whose children were at risk for autism. Dietary intervention(Celiac Disease gluten-free diet) would then prevent autism in children. This important work is being investigated by prominent scientists.
