Great article - it does seem to me that there is more plastic now than before they started this recycle campaign. I sure hated seeing that picture of the duck with a mask around its neck. I hate these masks I see all over the sidewalks and streets in my city.

100% scam. I'm a guilty buyer of plastic water bottles, containers, etc... I thought about it a few days ago while taking out my trash. You must pay extra to recycle in my area. I almost fell for it. Again.

The first time I fell for it was in 2017, living in Reno, Nevada. They charged my apartment complex $19 additional a month to pick up recycling. Then they raised it to $30 around 18 months later.

My neighbor decided to investigate where this plastic was all bring taken. Guess what? It was going straight to the dump where the rest of the garbage was being dispised of, a landfill outside of town, not a separatefacility as advertised. Fast forward. They were exposed and had to pay the residents back for the time rented. Score one for us. But did we win? The plastic war is still raging on and unless corps do their part its a losing war. Good article, Isaiah.

I started a CPG company in 2020 based on my recipes and worked hard to be almost entirely plastic free (sometimes we use little plastic stickers for tamper seals). It took me 18 months to develop our spice packaging that’s only made of metal and paper, fighting with manufacturers who just want to use the easy and plentiful plastic shakers. I know I’m a tiny company but hoping it inspires more people to explore other materials. Thanks for this article!!

Did you really have to mention the color of your skin? Isaiah, I love your articles, but the more we keep putting our skin color into conversations that have nothing to do with that topic, the longer it will take for racism to end. Just my opinion of course. Morgan Freeman...

Recycling, indeed man, you are spot on. Bring your own canvas bags, we do. Once you start doing that much at least, it becomes a habit. Buying so much crap with all that packaging, it is destroying so much beauty in this world. If everyone would get out of the house more, they'd actually see it.

Fast. At least 1 day per week. Work your way up to a 2 week fast over the course of a year or so. An annual 2 week fast can actually get heavy metals out of your bone marrow. Diabetes, flu, cancer, obesity, all those ailments for the most part are just toxicity. Scrub those plastics and crap out of our organs and we can finally heal, breathe, smile, make love and have a much tighter community around us.

Peace, baby! :)
