Do you think a hardcore Muslim brotherhood regime like Hamas freedom fighters of Palestine? Not really. They have a bigger agenda and close tie-ups with Iran. Look at the plight of women in Iran. The whole Arab nations are worried about Iran. Hamas is similar to the Taliban, ISIS, etc. More than half of Palestinians support Hamas. More than freedom, they like to see the destruction of Israel. Considering the geography, do you think the people of Israel will get to live peacefully if they make Gaza and the West Bank independent Palestinian states and live in the middle? Never. The Muslim Brotherhood will get them eventually, as it is spreading to Europe fast. Do I support Israel in its massacre of Palestinians? Not at all. But if the people of Palestine need freedom and not hatred of Jews, they should support a moderate political party like Fatah and make efforts for bilateral talks. Again, that is impossible with the growing far-right political movements in Israel. But I wish there would be peace one time before the world ends.
Thanks for writing that. I couldn't have said it better myself. What Hamas did was atrocious. Indiscriminate bombing in response is atrocious. But, I'm not getting sucked into this mess by a government and media who are practiced in the art of deception.
I have no solutions. I'm just not going to be played by these people.
Well said Isaiah. I don't care about their religious war. I do care about civilians being caught in the middle. Right now a lot of Palestinians are trapped in the Gaza Strip without food & water. If Israel wants to hunt down Hamas fighters they can do so. This is their Afghanistan welcome to the land where you don't know who's a terrorist or civilian. I hope it doesn't take 20 years to figure it out.
Even the weird Evangelicals of America who seemingly support Israel blindly, as they are “God’s people”, as Christians they really should read their Bible for
1. How Jesus responds when people say who his people are (“who is my brother and my mother?”)
2. See how it’s quite possible for “God’s people” to in fact do bad things (as they did in the Bible, as we all do).
Point 2 is excellent. I reread Exodus recently and the Jews not only go through several wars before finding the promise land, but are also often completely in the wrong as any human can be. All this moral grandstanding hurts my brain.
Like 70% of the Old Testament is basically God being unhappy with their behaviour and them doing bad things, so I can’t understand this idea that they are somehow immune to doing wrong.
i agree with all points here. the amount of lies from israel part amazes me, they always change their story... they know they're losing credibility know
It's a five-thousand year old family feud over a worthless piece of desert. The descendants of Ishmael are still pissed that after the birth of Isaac, Ishmael and his mother were banished to the desert. These two peoples hate each other. Religion divides the world because people are too ignorant to understand what their religion actually preaches.
“Most historians agree that back in 1948, the pre-state Jewish militias in Israel took actions”. You’re clearly biased. Even the arabs themself said many time that they did not accept the UN dividing the country and their leaders told to leave and get back after they kill the jews. That not to say that there weren’t very few villages that were indeed told to leave. But how unique are the Palestinian? Not at all. Many many conflicts like this. What’s unique is the attention and antisemitism.
Yea what's happening is a story as old as time: Dividing and conquering. What makes this situation unique is the religious pretext as u alluded. And i agree, the antisemitism around Israel 100% exists but its also often overused to subvert any criticism. Noam Chomsky often spoke about this.
Still, a nuanced dialogue like we're having here is so much better than the hyperbolic pundits in the media. It likely won't change much. But it's a start into getting people to think critically and not emotionally... something we've sorely lost.
For a breath of fresh air of nuance, may I suggest one of the many screenings of > https://www.israelismfilm.com/
Thanks i will definitely watch this

Perfectly sums up my thoughts.
