Howdy,
Apologies for the late, late, LATE email but I’ve been busy since moving to Harlem last week.
After being in Oklahoma for the past 4 months getting up to speed with NYC was more challenging than I expected. But I think I’m there now.
I’m going to start performing in some comedy clubs this week so if you’re not following me on Twitter do it already you bastard!! Also also, I was able to build up a nice archive of articles to publish to Substack so I will be publishing more frequently (every few days or so).
As for now, here’s a recent podcast I was able to do with Connecticut Comedian Joseph Jaffe. Check it out (we use the word ‘sanguine’ a lot!)
Also, also, also here is a current list of books I’m reading as I did find some time to squeeze that in while lifting heavy boxes up 5 flights of stairs…
Answer to Job by Carl Jung: Holy crap. What a mind-blowing book. Carl Jung alleges that the Chrisitan God is entirely unconscious and makes decisions without a moral structure. He also posits that the biblical character Job had the moral upper hand when God decided to torture him. It’s very fitting for Easter.
Token Economy by Shermin Voshmgir: Easily the best book you’ll ever read on Web3 and cryptocurrency. The concepts are delivered in an academic way without ever feeling too heavy-handed. It’s perfect.
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand: I know some of you might hate Ayn Rand, but god damn is this book juicy. Just from a narrative level, it’s fun to follow two architect students: one who’s the corporate sellout and the other who is willing to experiment despite the system and everyone in New York being against him. From a philosophical level, I don’t agree with everything Ayn Rand posits, but it’s fascinating nonetheless.
Some of you might also be interested in a playlist of all the music I’ve been listening to out in Oklahoma. I finally had time to get around to a lot of albums I missed out on such as Outkast’s “Stankonia,” Bjork’s “Post” and the work of the greatest artist of a generation: Nina Simone.
Check it out here.
Anyway next article is coming out on Tuesday. Some of them will be free but most of them will be for paid subscribers.
Cheers!
Shared music - I had a scan of your playlist Isaiah and its looks interesting and I am really keen to listen thx for the invite.... BUT i cannot countenance signing up with Spotify. Now theres a yawning gap - a competing music portal thats fair and decentralised.
I love Jung the deeper I go into his work and on individuation. His idea of what God means sits withe me well.
