I've been banging the drum for a while that death by Microplastics is a cosmic horror that would make HP Lovecraft reach for valium.
Google 'Sperm Count 2045' and you'll find a motley crew of fertility researchers who believe it will be ZERO because of chemicals found in plastics. In fact, a 2017 study by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem documented a 50 percent reduction in sperm count, particularly in Western countries, since the 1970s.
Microplastics may also lead to miscarriages in women as they have been shown to induce spontaneous abortion in mice.
We’re in deep shit. Unchecked industry is destroying mankind.
One person leading the charge to make this info more mainstream is Dr. Shanna Swan, an expert in environmental medicine and public health who teaches at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.
I bumped into her once at a farmer’s market in Union Square.
She's got the vibe of a science teacher who makes the most dull subjects fun. A true gem of a woman.
Here's what I've learned from her about microplastics and fertility.
You're a weak, uninspired, low-T loser...
You likely consume plastic comparable to a credit card every week, according to a World Wildlife Fund study.
So what's the big deal? Why does this even matter?
Welcome to the world of EDCs (Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals).
Your endocrine system is made up of glands that release hormones that help control many essential body functions, including the body's ability to change calories into energy that powers cells and organs. This system is literally what makes you, you. The endocrine system influences how your heart beats, your bones and tissues grow, even your ability to make a baby.
EDCs can be found in plastics, your food, your water, the pesticides used on crops and they are found to suppress many chemicals in the body, including the defining one responsible for making humans into men: testosterone, the hormone that affects your mood, behavior and physical attributes. So...
Your weak, small frame.
Poor jawline and bone density
Low T
Lack of focus, depression, and your inability to be motivated to do anything other than gaming
Your shy, awkward, and meek demeanor
Your lack of confidence
Your small dick
Many doctors believe these problems can be at the feet of the plastic takeover, which began around the 1950s and fully exploded with the advent of single-use plastics in the 1970s.
Phthalates in food
If a rat is exposed to phthalates (a group of chemicals responsible for making plastic more durable) their penis is smaller, their scrotum and taints are smaller, and their testes are not descended. Incompletely masculinized.
Dr. Swan wanted to find out if this is true in human males and began poking around in some peculiar places. In a $5 million study, she took to measuring the urine of pregnant women for phthalates. She then measured their male babies' taints —not a fancy scientific term, but you know where I'm pointing — and found the same thing as scientists did in earlier rat studies: the more microplastics the smaller the taints.
Swan then took her taint-measuring escapade to college-age men, correlating semen samples with taint length. The upshot was that the shorter the taint, the lower the sperm count.
This provided her confidence in the direct link from phthalates to shorter taints and subsequently, to reduced sperm count.
The boys born with smaller taints will experience puberty later than normal. It also decreases their testosterone production, affecting their mood, behavior and physical attributes.
Moreover, Phthalates are found in DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING: children's toys, vinyl flooring and wall covering, detergents, lubricating oils, food packaging, pharmaceuticals, blood bags and tubing, and personal care products such as nail polish, hair sprays, aftershave lotions, soaps, shampoos, and perfumes.
There are also Xenoestrogens like BPA (a chemical that makes plastic hard) which is also found in DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING: items packaged in plastic containers (cleaning supplies, laundry bottles...), the plastic lining in canned foods, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, thermal printer receipts, CDs and DVDs, household electronics, eyeglass lenses, sports equipment, and the list goes on and on and on.
NOTE: When the plastic items heat up (ie. eating your hot food with plastic utensils, drinking warm beverages in plastic cups. You get the idea), the amount of EDCs entering your body increases dramatically.
If you want kids
The elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about is the increasing number of disabled kids.
No one wants to talk about it because if you told the population you have nearly a 5 percent chance of having a disabled kid natality rates would drop even faster.
Overdiagnosis theory is certainly a factor, but many scientists believe the increase in disabled kids is likely the work of some pollutant that has increased in quantity over the last two decades, microplastics being one of them. Humanity is becoming increasingly unable to have healthy kids.
WHAT DO??!!!??!!!!
A lot of people have written to me that microplastic fear is overblown. We have a population that doesn't exercise enough, doesn't go outside, doesn't talk to people, sits for 18 hours a day, and doesn't get enough nutrients.
To me, this is a chicken & egg problem without it being acknowledged.
What came first? The chemicals killing us or the apathy that reinforced it? Who knows. Who cares.
There's clearly chemical warfare going on in our environment that is a confluence of microplastics, air pollution, paracetamol abuse, and maybe even hair loss drugs. So here's what I would do. Limit your exposure to EDCs. I'm not saying you should abandon everything plastic (although that would be ideal, it's extremely difficult) so the best thing you can do is avoid them when necessary.
Get a charcoal filter and FILTER ALL THE WATER YOU DRINK
Get a stainless steel water bottle
Store food in...purchase drinks packaged in... GLASS CONTAINERS
Look for canned goods and plastic items/containers that are BPA/phthalate-free
Avoid fast food outside of the occasional cheat day
Learn to cook (not that hard; free, easy-to-learn recipes on YouTube)
Avoid meat, fish and butter packaged in plastic; meat should be grass-fed, grass-finished. Salmon (very good for testosterone) & other fish should be wild-caught; butter should be organic
Limit grain intake
Use more fragrance-free personal care products

And elect RFK, Jr., as President, since he's the only candidate who's talking about looking into these things.
Seriously, I'm not saying I'll vote for him, but he's really good on some issues no one else is discussing. And are there significantly better candidates out there?? I may just vote for him.
Thanks for the always useful info!
