It's hard for me to talk about this, but I still remember a time when I was in a very dark place. There were animals and screams and a big rat jumped out at me. But you've been to Chuck E. Cheese, right?
"Isaiah, how would you like to be the man to be in our Chuck E. Cheese mascot costume?"
“Sure.”
On that day, I sold my soul to the Chuck E. Cheese company:
Okay, this is a bit
We post serious content here, I swear, and we do have some new updates:
Yard Couch Podcast: We interviewed Medium’s CEO Tony Stubblebine and talked about what stories succeed on Medium, how to make money writing, and what productivity hacks took him to the next level. Also, it’s FREE. Totally free. I decided it was too important to be behind a paywall and we will continue one new interview every Wednesday. Please support us by sharing and subscribing.
Paid Subscribers: Our next interview is a live stream with former Secret Service agent and school shootings prevention expert Daniel Dluzneski next Wednesday at 11amEST. Paid subscribers can ask questions at the end — and more benefits are to come.
Articles: Now scheduled for Monday and Friday; today is the exception.
Life Update: I’m moving to downtown New York City in the Lower Eastside neighborhood. If you’re ever in NY come watch me perform stand-up comedy or maybe we can grab a cup of coffee (only if you’re a paid subscriber…kidding but not really)
Book Recommendation: I’m reading journalist Russ Baker’s “Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, America's Invisible Government, and the Hidden History of the Last Fifty Years” which accuses the Bushes of playing a part in JFK’s assassination. It’s heavy. If you’re looking for something less heavy try “You Can't Make This Stuff Up” by Lee Gutkind which talks about writing creative non-fiction (juicy material for bloggers)
That’s all I got.
Here’s a Hunter S. Thompson quote to get you through the week:
“I'm not trying to send you out "on the road" in search of Valhalla, but merely pointing out that it is not necessary to accept the choices handed down to you by life as you know it. There is more to it than that -- no one HAS to do something he doesn't want to do for the rest of his life. But then again, if that's what you wind up doing, by all means convince yourself that you HAD to do it. You'll have lots of company.”—Hunter S. Thompson
